I quit the Theocratic Ministry School
by My Name is of No Consequence inafter almost 24 years in the school and doing it since i was nine years old, i officially resigned.
it has become increasingly difficult to prepare talks, especially with the new format for brothers.
i did not mind doing them; i actually put the time and effort into getting them out.

I feel a little sad about it actually. The TMS was something that has been apart of my life since the age of 9. It certainly has helped me to become a better speaker and communicator. However, it has outlived its usefulness for me. -

Brothers on the school can now be given assignments with assistants, just like the sisters.

I might have stayed in if it wasn't for the new format. I simply don't have the time and energy to coordinate with someone else to do an unrealistic settling that no one is paying attention to anyway. The school has essentially become a joke at this point. No one seems to put any effort or imagination into their assignments. -

I did not mind doing them; I actually put the time and effort into getting them out. Not to pat myself on the back, but I thought I was very good at it. I only loosely followed the “suggested” material for talk no. 3’s and used many other sources for material. I tried my best to keep it interesting. Even with bible readings, I would practice constantly until it was perfect.
But no more.

May it rest in peace.

If you show that article to witnesses, most would say: "that's old light" or "the organization is constantly refining itself". Here's one: "Aren't you glad that your parents grew older and had you?" They have an answer for everything. -

"You young ones..."
by My Name is of No Consequence in"you young ones, are you worried about college, a career, retirement?
the end is so close!".
how many of us have heard that and are better (or worse) for it?.

Perhaps I should add that I was one of the "lucky" ones. After high school, I worked a little bit before going to college and getting a degree. For the most part, it has worked out for me in that regard. But I know that others weren't so lucky. Most of us obeyed and didn't go to college or save for retirement and are paying dearly for it, even decades later. I'm not saying that a degree would guarantee a good paying job and retirement security, but it would have certainly helped.
What say you?

How many JWs really believe the end will come "soon"?
by BU2B inthis topic has been on my mind lately.
i have been looking around at jws and wondering how many truly believe the end is as near as they are told.
from my personal experience, i know that my parents fully believe the end is imminent and may come any time now.

I think that deep down, most witnesses feel that their own "end" will come before "the end". Most witnesses just go through the motions and are weary and tired at this point. Believe me, I see it when I go to the meetings. One brother that I know who is staring down 60 said that he is "old, miserable and broke" and knows he will die. He graduated from high school in 1975 by the way. Need I say more? -

What person/persons/group is behind the rebranding of Jehovahs Witnesses
by truthseeker inwith the jw rebranding program in full swing, who do you think is behind all this?
i'm not certain the governing body came up with these ideas.
at least not the old guard which died off around 2009.. given the fairly recent articles in the kingdom ministry and watchtower about the dangers of the internet and having the latest gadget, this rebranding effort can't have been in the works for much more than three years.. the makeover is slick...very slick...and very clever.

"What person/persons/group is behind the rebranding of Jehovahs Witnesses"
Why Jehovah God of course!
Seriously, I wish I knew. I think the main reason for the rebranding is to save and create cash to pay child abuse victims. This organization has always had money, but I highly doubt that they had tens of millions of dollars laying around just to pay out claims. Money is being saved by closing branches, consolidating and moving the world headquarters out of New York City, selling off kingdom halls, encouraging everyone to download their literature as opposed to getting books and magazines, I could go on. When a company sells and consolidates suddenly, they are in dire need of money. If they don't pay abuse claims or don't have the money to pay, the governments may start seizing property.
Maybe the governing body is behind the rebranding and only the governing body. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
